Client/Role Profile

The Co-operative Group Ltd is the world’s largest consumer co-operative, with a turnover of more than £9 billion, 4.5 million members and 87,500 employees. With a very strong sustainable policy (nearly all of their electricity comes from renewable energy resources) they decided to turn their attention to utilising that energy as efficiently as possible across 4,000 retail stores and portfolios throughout the UK.
As the market leaders in Energy & Environmental Recruitment, Allen & York were the natural choice for The
Co-operative Group, who contacted our dedicated Energy Group to assist them in recruiting 2 roles; an Energy Efficiency Manager and Energy Support Manager.

The Service

Our Energy Group Consultants took the time to discuss the various potential services that Allen & York offer, including:  Executive Search, Managed Advertising and Database Search.
The Co-operative Group wanted a proactive and profile raising approach and we advised that targeted advertising would be the most cost-effective and productive method for these specialist roles; Managed Advertising Campaign with a Database Search run alongside it was recommended.
The Database Search identified a selection of energy management candidates with:

• Knowledge of HVAC.
• Experience within energy efficiency.
• Experience in delivering refurbishment and new-build projects.

At the same time as the database search was being carried out, Allen & York also created an Advertising Campaign in print and online to attract the very best energy candidates for the position.
The advertising response was handled by a dedicated team within the Energy Group, and all CVs identified from the database search were thoroughly screened to assess their suitability against job descriptions provided. The most appropriate candidates were submitted to The Co-operative Group for approval and interviews were arranged.

The Result

From the candidates interviewed those with the most appropriate skills and experience were selected and offered positions, and the 2 successful candidates were in position within agreed deadlines and have provided The
Co-operative Group with an essential resource.
