Overview of Role
 
The Project Director (PD) provides leadership together with the interface between businesses needs and project delivery - the representative who acts as the focal point of contact with project/construction managers responsible for the day-to-day management of projects and site activities. The PD is responsible for ongoing management on behalf of the client to ensure that desired business objectives are aligned with the portfolio of projects, including responsibility for proposal and capture and the subsequently project delivery/execution.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Overall direction and management of projects from opportunity identification through designated proposals/estimating to the handover to project/construction managers.
 
Ensuring consistency with corporate and divisional strategy, consistency of process across projects and customer satisfaction with the services provided.
 
Overall direction in consultation with functional heads for providing services to a portfolio of projects such as guidelines, SHE, planning, scheduling, financial and budget control, purchasing and risk assessment.
 
Determination and allocation of project resource, needs and competency.
 
Facilitation with innovation and continuous improvements in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
 
Acting as the 'Delegate' for project purposes, representing the divisional interests and assuming project responsibilities, including reporting status against a programme of projects to the T&D Project delivery Director.
 
Experience Required
 
  • Professional designation in Business Administration/Technical Engineering (Preferable).
  • 10 progressive years in relevant project/construction management environment.
  • Adequate knowledge and information of the UK infrastructure business, together with project management principles to be able to make informed decisions
  • Experienced in high voltage substation engineering and construction.
  • Application of risk assessment and management principles and processes
  • Network effectively, negotiate well and influence people, broker relationships with stakeholders within and outside the project environment
  • Be aware of the broader perspective and how it affects projects
  • Superior communication, negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Strategic planning, group motivation and discipline, imagination and diplomacy
