Our client is one of the world's leading renewable energy companies is are active in the development, construction and ownership of wind farms on a global scale.
Their Engineering division has extensive capabilities in all the engineering disciplines required to support their wind business. In particular, the electrical project design team are responsible for the detailed design of the wind farm collection system and sub-station and have gained experience with over 4,000MW of operating projects.
These have included designs up to and including 400kV for both on-shore and offshore wind farms in all major markets including UK & Ireland, France, Sweden, North America, Canada and Australia.
To strengthen the existing engineering team and position the department to meet the demands of the growing on-shore and offshore wind business, they are looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer.
The role:
To take a lead electrical design role for onshore wind farm electrical power systems.
Duties will include:
- Preparation of detailed equipment specifications inclusive of transformers, switchgear, cables, and reactive compensation plant
- Preparation of detailed functional specifications for wind farm substations connected to 33kV, 132kV and 400kV networks.
- Technical evaluation of equipment tenders and substation tenders
- Technical management of sub-contract designers
- Design of wind farm collection systems
- Managing in-house study work
- Technical support to the procurement and construction teams
- General electrical support
The person:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant previous experience
- Ability to work to demanding timescales and manage workload effectively
- Current UK driving license
