Projects Director - Power Transmission
Overview of Role
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Project Director to take up a role within their Power Transmission business. Reporting directly to the Delivery Director, this is your chance to bring your extensive industry knowledge to the Power Transmission business. The successful candidate should posses the ability to add value to an already highly successful team, managing new or existing projects and further developing an already established capability within the Power Transmission sector. To achieve this, the candidate will need to be a professional of high calibre with proven experience in this or a similar industry sector.
In addition the Project Director will be familiar with best practice methodologies and have an appetite for managing high quality people, processes and situations to ensure total excellence.
The successful candidate must be prepared to travel as the role will involve UK and International travel.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- SHE Excellence - ensuring the transformation of SHE performance from the execution of company policies and procedures into a behavioural-led culture in the delivery of projects. Liaise and control of project management activities for compliance with policies and procedures. Ensure that all operations are assessed for risk and completed safely and leading improvement initiatives. Demonstrate and deliver a visible leadership in safety and embrace and enhance the company?s exemplary health and safety culture
- Profitability - ensure that profit is maximised from projects and ensure action is taken to minimise cost. Manage financial targets to meet objectives, including reporting the financial status to the Delivery Director.
- Business Growth - Assist in the development and implementation of the SRM and Business Development plan to meet business growth plan.
- Operational - To ensure the timely execution of projects whilst mitigating risks and maximising opportunities and quality. Develop and implement the project strategy in line with overall business strategy.
- Implementing Best Practice - co-ordinating with other projects within T & D Services and the wider company plus acknowledging Industry Best Practice, implement improvement in Project Performance.
- Risk Management - ensuring that the company?s Risk Management procedure is carried through from the Tendering process into live Projects and become a dynamic tool in the successful delivery of Projects.
Desirable Qualifications
A degree in Engineering/Business Administration/Project Management is desirable
Experience Required
With experience of successfully handling contracts valued in excess of £30m you will have significant operational Project Management experience along with a proven track record of developing and leading Project Management Teams.
This would suit an individual who regards themselves as having high energy, strong leadership skills, a commitment to implement best practice, focused on customers and a strong commercial sense.
- In depth knowledge of power transmission.
- Able to deliver strong operational support in the pursuit of major prospects.
- Demonstrable HSE leadership and commitment and excellent health and safety culture
- Excellent communication skills in formal presentations and reportinG
Performance driven and be customer focused with a can do attitude, the successful candidate should possess:-
- Excellent Customer service skills with an ability to build and maintain rapport is essential
- Experience within the Power Transmission Industry is desirable
